5 stars for breakfast!! Good deals under 7 dollars and even though they say two eggs we got 4!! Omelettes were huge and there's even free coffee on weekdays. Choice of pancakes or toast with meal, giving pancake options to choose besides different types of bread, winner! It's somewhere I'll definitely visit after a long night before i take a long nap. The waitress and guy there were really nice and entertaining and I never even know about this place even though I've been to art and jakes a few times, which is in the strip mall next to Grandmas.

I've been there several times now and can say they make an excellent breakfast. I usually get the breakfast bowl. It has a base of hashbrowns, eggs any style on top, and then my choice is the bacon and onion variety. Mmmm! My wife usually gets eggs over medium, which most places can never get right. They're either too runny or to well done. Their cook nails it. We've had the blitzens too, very good, just like my Gramma used to make.

This came to my attention by advertising in a local paper. They sounded good in the review. I went alone intending to order a 5 egg omelet, and ordered strawberry french toast with whipped cream instead. The first table I went to sit at was dirty with little shreds of napkin dried on the surface, but place settings and cups put on top of the grime. No place is perfect so I went to a clean table. The waitress was friendly and kept my coffee full. It was kind of weak coffee but good flavor, not bitter. The french toast when it came was the sort where they just dredge sandwich bread slices it in batter to get the surface wet and don't soak it into the body of the bread. The strawberries were not the fresh ones promised in the menu, but bright red frozen strawberries in a thick heavy syrup. No butter or other syrup was offered. I asked for syrup and got a little plastic cup that was about 3 or 4 tablespoons. Based on this I won't be back to try the other things. My bill was $8+ for a breakfast that left me hungry. It is at best average or a little below average in the most critical item - the food.

The waitress was attentive and sweet, but didn't seem to get it when we asked questions. The menu is extensive. My aunt had stuffed pepper and love it. The soup was flavorful but some of the meat had chunks of gristle. The homemade hash browns were excellent and generous. My mother had the sour creme crepes. She enjoyed them. They were thin and light and large! I had the grilled chicken salad. It was fresh and the chicken was lean. It was sort of boring with nothing special on it. No peppers. No vegetables beyond the expected; romaine, iceberg, cucumbers, tomato, and melted strips of cheddar cheese. No onion. For the money, everything was adequate but there was nothing special that would keep us coming back. One thing that was terrible was the bread basket. It was typical bakery bread thinly sliced, but they put it in the oven to warm it up and it turned it into dry chewy slices that seemed almost stale. They ruined the bread. My aunt asked for butter for the crackers and it took forever to get the butter. We were also disappointed that we arrived at 5 p.m. and read the specials on the board. After ordering, they added some others that we would have preferred. When we asked about that they said they were a little behind on the board and the waitress laughed, even after we told her we would have ordered differently. They really should have special menus they give with the regular menu. I will go back, but for breakfast to have some of those homemade hash browns. I don't think I will go back at lunch or dinner. There are a few other restaurants in this category we go to that have the same great low prices that do a better job with the food and service. It is a family diner atmosphere. Nothing special. A bit worn. The bathrooms were very clean but also old looking. It does not have a handicap ramp (that we could find) to get up the very tall curbing. The parking lot is not flat. So that all proved to be a challenge for my mother. They need some background music. It was so quiet you can hear what everyone around you is talking about. Not very private. The cook (or someone from the back) came out to play with the tv. He stood in front of us playing with the remote. Never bothered to say hello and anything. No eye contact. Sort of creepy.

I got a chicken melt sandwich which was delicious. The waitress was attentive. My only complaint was the fact that with "combinations" you only get soup and there was only one choice of soup. I would have really preferred a salad or the choice of a different soup (the only choice given to me was lemon rice soup which is not a soup I particularly care for).
